Just a few of the names of the Pioneers and Settlers to which Canada owes its existence today.
Many of these names come from the 1851 census, so keep in mind that many names would have been written phonetically. In addition, records are handwritten and may therefore have been entered incorrectly in the database. Each name represents at least one person, others, and several individuals. The 1951 census is a great place to start even if you have very little information about your ancestors. The Archives of Canada has several resources that can be very useful if you want to do some research. Please also check out our links page.
A very special thank goes out to our new members who have helped us add their family name to the list. This is so very exciting!
We will continue to add names regularly.
